El equipo de béisbol del EPCC gana su última serie en casa contra Amarillo College

The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Baseball team won the final home series of the season against Amarillo College, winning Friday, 7-5 and 13-2, the latter in a five inning mercy rule game.

On Saturday, the Tejanos split the doubleheader, winning the first game, 8-7, but falling in the finale, 13-3 in five innings.

On Friday, sophomore Chris Tavarez hit a walk off grand slam to propel the Tejanos to victory. In game one on Friday, Sal Rocha and Orlando Samaniego both hit two-run home runs.

EPCC improves to 29-23 overall, 14-18 in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC). Amarillo falls to 22-29 overall, 15-17 in the WJCAC.

EPCC closes out the season April 30 and May 1 at Western Texas College.

Here are the sophomores who celebrated Saturday with their families and friends:

#2 Salvador Rocha from Pebble Hills High School, transferring to the University of New Orleans. Will be playing summer baseball in the Northwoods League. He was escorted by his parents Julie and Salvador Rocha and sisters Sarah and Natalie Rocha

#3 Jalen Gutierrez from Cardinal Hays High School, Bronx, NY, transferring to the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He was escorted by his parents Wilson Gutierrez and Sugei Morban and his niece Soraya Gutierrez

#8 Christopher Spencer from Presidio High School. He was escorted by his parents Yvonne and Gilbert Spencer.

#9 Alejandro Morales from Colegio de Bachilleres, Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. He was escorted by his parents Javier Morales and Rosa Isela Munoz.

#14 Chris Tavarez from International Baseball Academy, Rio Grande, PR. He is transferring to the University of Kansas. He will be playing summer baseball with the St. Cloud Rox of the Northwoods League. He was escorted by his parents Secy Marin and Emilio Tavarez and sister Orlyanys Marin.

#22 Orlando Samaniego from Riverside High School. He will be transferring to West Texas A&M University. He was escorted by his parents David and Yvonne Samaniego and sister Sophia Samaniego.

#28 Paulo Martell from Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy, Anasco, PR. He was escorted by his parents Marvin Martell and Liliana Mendez.

#29 Gus Koehn from Johnson High School, Buda, TX. He is transferring to Stephen F. Austin University. He was escorted by his father Charlie Koehn.

#31 Pablo Palacios from Colegio de Bachilleres, Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. He was escorted by his parents Jorge Palacios and Claudia Ramos and his girlfriend Antonella Arrello.

#32 Jesus Lozano from Ysleta High School. He was escorted by his mother Alejandra Hernandez.

#34 Carlos Rodriguez from Ciudad Juarez, MX. He was escorted by his parents Pedro Rodriguez and Silvia Mota and his brother Alex Rodriguez. He is transferring to the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley.
